Using the Spare App

The following are basic usage instruction on how to get started once you have compiled the app from  source on GitHub. We are working on a more detailed user guide in the coming days.

Step 1

After launching the Spare app  you’ll be presented with two options on the starting screen: 

    1. Create New Private Key – Choose this option to create and farm Sparecoin on new plots. You will not be able to access your existing Chia plots with this option alone.
    2. Import From Mnemonics (24 Words) – Choose this option to import and start farming on your existing Chia plots

Step 2

To start farming an existing Chia plot choose “Import From Mnemonics (24 Words)” and enter the 24 word mnemonic key to grant Spare access to your Chia plots. Enter your key.

NOTE: The keys used for plotting are only accessed locally on your node to answer challenges and earn block rewards on your plots. We recommend, as a best practice, to separate your key used for plotting from your key used for rewards. This way, you can keep you wallet key with rewards completely separate, inaccessible and secure.

Step 3

Navigate to “Plots” and choose “Add Plot Directory” and select the directory where your Chia plots are stored.

Step 4

Your plots will be synced and farming for Sparecoin will begin! That’s it, happy farming!
